Seánan Forbes
Seánan Forbes
Based in New York and London, Seánan Forbes spends much of her life in transit.
Her articles have appeared in publications as diverse as Saveur, The Chicago Tribune, Plate Magazine, Running Times, My Midwest, Meatpaper, Viv Magazine, Oxygen Magazine and the New York Post. As a columnist, she’s written about wine for Her Life and lifestyles for Kansas City Magazine. She’s done corporate writing; written professional blog posts for magazines, newspapers and websites; composed newsletters; penned articles for trade and consumer publications; and edited art reviews and a child-psychology column.
Profiles, giveaways, commercial copy, brochures . . . The range is anything but narrow. That’s by choice: Variety plus versatility equals freshness.
Seánan has worked for magazines, newspapers, radio networks and AP Award-winning radio stations. In Tokyo, Croatia and New York, she’s led workshops in creativity, writing, storytelling and performance. In the course of her lifetime, she has told stories from Korea to Canada (moving in either direction around the planet), cooked in kitchens and galleys, taught workshops and adult education, created creativity courses for people with and survivors of cancer, worked as an aerialist (static trapeze and corde lisse), earned union membership as an actor in two countries, dug her own grave, taught origami at an Ivy League college, and climbed the mast of a tall ship to watch whales breaching the surface of the ocean.
Much of her journalistic work focuses on food, beverages, travel, fitness, and artisans. While her fiction veers towards the dark side, her storytelling tends to be bright and optimistic. As a copy editor, she takes pride in being able to sharpen work without dulling the writer’s voice.
Seánan is also a photographer -- art, food and travel. Her images have appeared on Saveur.com, Viv Magazine, My Midwest and the Chicago Sun-Times’ food blog, “Digging in”. Her art can be seen in New York City businesses and in B&B’s in Bournemouth, Dorset. She’s had shows in the Midwest and on the Eastern Seaboard. Photos came be seen on Graven Light and 500px.
